April Rains Bring May Flowers

April 29, 2026

“April rains bring May flowers” was my grandfather’s favorite phrase of early spring. It reflects a period of short-term discomfort or volatility that ultimately sets the stage for growth. We’ve all been there and dealt with life’s storms.

In investing, this theme aligns with phases where geopolitical uncertainty, earnings resets, and/or policy shifts create temporary drawdowns—what feels like “rain.”
For our investors, the implication isn’t to avoid the rain, but to recognize it as part of the cycle. Market volatility generally presents opportunities to accumulate high-quality assets at more attractive valuations and plant more not less.

Positioning under this theme favors patience and selectivity. We continue to focus on companies whose businesses are likely to emerge stronger as conditions improve and “skies clear.”
